Section 2 reviews related work, particularly articles that focus on user surveys in this field as well as literature focusing on the analysis of YouTube log files and metadata. In Section 3 we describe the design of our two studies in detail, whereas Section 4 highlights their most important results. Section 5 discusses our findings and Section 6 presents the basic aspects of a prototype of a novel, adaptive, video search and retrieval interface that takes into account the results and insights from both studies. Finally, Section 7 presents our concluding remarks, highlighting the contributions of this work and suggesting opportunities for future work.
